It’s the best time of year. The Winnipeg Jets and the Winnipeg Blue Bombers are both in action today. The Jets get the afternoon game for their 90’s night against the big bad Dallas Stars and then at 5:30 the CFL West Final with the Saskatchewan Roughriders. You can feel it in the November air.
I’m going to stick with the near perfect Jets today.  They have not allowed a goal against in their last two games and are looking are looking for their fifth straight victory. Dallas is 3-2 in their last five games the games they lost were in a back to back against the Florida Panthers. The Stars are 10 points back of the Jets and are 8-4-0 on the season.
Connor Hellebuyck the Jets expected starter is the best goaltender in the world right now and has not allowed a goal against since 6:51 of the third period against the Lightning. That’s 133 minutes and 10 seconds of hockey played without a goal against. Because the Jets have the best goalie in the world it’s been easier for the Jets Winnipeg Jets reach their 13-1 record to start the season.
Dallas is expect to start American goaltender Jake Oettinger this afternoon. The 6’6 goaltender has fun playing against the Jets, he has a record of 5-1-1 in 7 games with a goals against average of 1.99 and a save percentage of .924 versus the Jets in his career. In his last five 3-2-0 record in his last five games.
Matt Duchene leads the Stars with seven goals and 15 points this season, 6 of those points coming on the powerplay. Dallas is just 15.4% on the power play and are sixth best with an 89% on the penalty kill. The Jets will need to step up if they want to do some damage with their 44% power play.
The Jets have lost three of their last five games against Dallas getting out scored 11-13 in those games.
The Jets have 10 players with 10 or more points Vlad Namestnikov with a point today could be the 11th player this year for the Jets to reach double digits.
Dallas has only scored 38 goals in 12 games, 11th lowest in the NHL. They have allowed the least goals against just 28 against in 12 games the Jets have allowed 30 in 14 with the lowest average goal against in a game.
Both teams are playing for the right to declare dominance in the Central Division. Dallas hasn’t had the start they wanted, their top end guys haven’t been producing the way they want to so far this season. Oettinger  and Hellebuyck will be showing off why they should be the starter for team USA for the international tournaments.
Puck drop is set for 2:00 pm CT from downtown Winnipeg you can catch the game on Sportsnet, 680 CJOB and Power 97.
