The Winnipeg Jets signed forward Gabriel Vilardi to a two-year, one-way contract, with an AAV of 3.43 million on July 19th and avoid arbitration with the Jets forward. Vilardi will be a RFA at the end of his two-year contract.
Vilardi, was drafted 11th overall in the first round by the Los Angeles Kings in 2017. The 6’3 Centre put up 41 points and 23 goals this past season. In the playoffs against the Edmonton Oilers he would see some scoring success, scoring two goals and a total of four points in five games. Vilardi has played with the LA Kings since 2019-20. The 23-year old forward has played 152 games has scored 78 points and 41 goals. In his first shift with the Kings he would score his first NHL goal.
Vilardi was the big piece that Winnipeg got back in the trade with the Kings that involved Pierre-Luc Dubois. The new forward for the Jets has had back issues before but assuming he stays healthy the Jets will have a solid middle sixer ready to go at anytime.
