The Winnipeg Jets are 19-1-0 over the last twenty regular season games going back to March 30th when they lost to the Ottawa Senators 3-2 last season. Today the Jets took on the referees and the Tampa Bay Lightning and would pick up their 11th win of the season.
Today was the day that the Jets said we are not frauds in the NHL this year. The team went down by two with a questionable lack of goalie interference and then the would go down a man after being wrong about the coaches challenge.
Now if you were only looking at the box score you would think Connor Hellebuyck had a brutal game with an .867 save percentage but that man should have had only goal go past him Sunday afternoon. That goal in question the third Lightning goal of the game from Mitchell Chaffee.
We would see a couple of Jets as well get their first goals of the season today in Logan Stanley and Alex Iafallo. Stanley would have his first fight of the season.
Vlad Namestnikov would open the Jets scoring 12:23 into the first period, when Josh Morrissey would pick up a failed puck dump from behind the Lightning goal line and find Namestnikov with a perfect pass and put the Jets within one.

Jets would out shoot the Lightning 11-9 and would take the only penalty of the period for delay of game because of the coaches challenge.
Logan Stanley would tie the game at 2 with his massive slap shot and score his first goal of the season. Nikolaj Ehlers would tie Frans Nielson for the most points scored by a Danish born player on this goal.
Mark Scheifele would give the Jets their first lead of the game taking full advantage of a botched pass from Ryan McDonagh. Scheifele and Gaberiel Vilardi would play a little tic tac toe on the 2-on-1 with Scheifele finding the back of the net. This was the goal of the game and maybe the goal of the week!
It was good to see Scheifele score 5-on-5. It felt like a weight had been lifted off the guy.

Tampa Bay would tie the game at three nearly three minutes later catching a missed pass by Cole Perfetti and moving down the ice on a 3-on-2. The Jets would play a solid 20 minutes in the second period out shooting the Lighting 11-5 in the period. Both teams would draw a penalty and no extra man goals were scored.
Iafallo scored his first of the season and gave the Jets their second lead of the game late on the power play and just 4:03 into the period. Perfetti would pass the puck behind the net to Nino Niederreiter who would find Iafallo in front of the net for another lead.
Nikita Kucherov would tie the game up at four with a sneaky little poke check on Namestnikov in front of the Jets net where Connor Hellebuyck wasn’t fully paying attention as he just played the puck behind his net. A bad bounce but nothing to sweat about.
Dylan Samberg would score the game winning goal from a pass from Kyle Connor who has scored in all 12 games for the Jets this season. The Jets defenders have a total of 43 points this season.

Ehlers and Perfetti would score on the empty net to give the Jets the 7-4 victory. Ehlers would become the highest scoring Danish born player in NHL history!
Jets are back in action for their second game of this four game home stand Tuesday night when they meet the Utah Hockey Club for the first time ever at 7:00 PM.
