A losing record down the stretch dumped the Winnipeg Jets into second place in the Central Division, and they took that spot only on a tiebreaker with the surging St. Louis Blues. The Jets will be looking to draw on their regular season success against St. Louis in the best-of-seven first-round series between the teams, with puck drop on the series set for Wednesday.
And at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com it’s the Blues that have been given a slight edge on the series price at -115 (wager $115 to win $100), although the Jets are -120 home favourites for Game 1 of the series on Wednesday night. St. Louis is listed at +1100 (wager $100 to win $1100) on the Stanley Cup odds, with Winnipeg a step back of them at +1400.

The Jets ceded top spot in the Central Division standings – and a chance to face a wild card entrant in the first round of the Western Conference playoffs – with a 4-5-1 mark over their last 10 games. That put Winnipeg one point behind the Predators in the final standings, and they earned home-ice advantage against the Blues only by virtue of the ROW tiebreaker.
Winnipeg, though, did come up with a 4-2 win as -150 road favourites on the NHL betting lines in its final outing of the season on Saturday, putting an end to a two-game losing skid that saw them fall on the road to the Wild and the Avalanche and lose ground in the Central standings.
And the Jets did manage to win three of their four games against the Blues during the regular season, although those contests did come early in the campaign when St. Louis was struggling mightily and looking like a longshot to make the playoffs. Winnipeg topped the Blues 5-1 as -115 road favourites on October 4, 5-4 as -155 home favourites on October 22, and 8-4 as -125 road favourites on November 24. St. Louis finally beat the Jets in a shutout 1-0 victory as +180 road underdogs on December 7. Winnipeg is 7-3 in their past 10 matchups.
The Blues, behind rookie goaltender Jordan Binnington, went 8-1-1 down the stretch to fall just that single point short of the lead in the Central Division. And St. Louis tuned up for the playoffs with back-to-back wins over the Flyers and Canucks by a combined score of 10-5.
The Jets fell in five games to the Golden Knights in the Western Conference final last season, winning their first two playoff rounds since the franchise returned to Winnipeg for the 2011/12 campaign. Overall this version of the Winnipeg Jets has played four playoff series, going 2-2.
