Winnipeg Jets trade Nathan Beaulieu to Pittsburgh Penguins

2 years agoThe Winnipeg Jets have traded defenceman Nathan Beaulieu to the Pittsburgh Penguins for a conditional seventh-round pick in the 2022 draft.
Beaulieu, 29, joined the Jets in a 2019 deal with the Buffalo Sabres.
He appeared in 105 games with the Jets over parts of the last four years scoring one goal and 18 points. This year, he’s appeared in 24 games scoring four assists.
Beaulieu, meanwhile, has been on the LTIR since March 9 with a lower-body injury.
The results on the ice with Beaulieu have not been great this year. At 5×5, the Jets controlled 41.23 percent of the shot attempts, 29.41 percent of the goals scored and 39.23 percent of the expected goal share.
A low PDO of 96.5 suggests there could be better results, but even with a deflated on-ice shooting percentage, it’s hard to imagine his numbers getting a whole lot better.
His isolated impacts, according to hockeyviz.com, are abysmal. Offensively he contributed at a nine percent rate below league average while defensively he contributed at a 12 percent rate below league average.
He was set to be a UFA at the end of the year and carries a $1.25-million cap hit.
