The Winnipeg Jets have signed both Joel Armia and Adam Lowry to two-year deals. Joel Armia is a one-way contract with an average salary of $925,000. Adam Lowry’s is a one-way contract with an average salary of $1.125 million.
Both players turned into waiver eligible players this season, so it is not surprising to see the one-way contracts.
Lowry has played 154 games in the NHL with the Jets. Over that time he has scored 18 goals and 22 assists. On average, Lowry’s linemates carry 0.5 percentage points higher Corsi with Lowry than without, although he was a negative impact the past season. This impact is exclusively through shot suppression, as the Jets tend to create far fewer chances with Lowry than without. The physical centre-slash-left-winger was selected 67th overall int he 2011 NHL Entry Draft, and was the Jets 2.0 second pick ever.
Armia has played 44 games in the NHL, 43 of them with the Winnipeg Jets last season. Over these games Armia has scored 4 goals and 6 assists. The big winger has carried an average negative impact of 0.4 percentage points to Corsi, meaning that his linemates Corsi percentage is 0.4 points better without than with. Armia was also selected in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft, 16th overall by the Buffalo Sabres. The Sabres traded him with Drew Stafford, Tyler Myers, Brendan Lemieux, and a first-round-pick in 2015 which was used to select Jack Roslovic, in return for Zach Bogosian, Evander Kane, and Jason Kasdorf.
