Do Wednesday”, I want to see what you, the readers, would do to help get the
Jets off their recent five-game losing skid. Don’t hold back and fight for what

THE SCENARIO
Before the NHL All-Star break the
Jets were one of the hottest teams in the league. The Jets had 60 points in 50
games, which put them seven points up on Calgary in the wild card race, 10
points up on Colorado for fourth in the Central Division and just two points
back of Chicago for third in the division. Needless to say they were sitting
pretty good at the unofficial halfway point of the season.

Fast forward two weeks and the Jets
have gone from sitting comfortable to fighting for their playoff lives with
seven other teams. There is just seven points separating the Jets, Flames,
Canucks, Sharks, Kings, Stars, Wild and Avalanche from fifth and twelfth in the
Western Conference.

Since the All-Star break the Jets
have gone 0-4-1 with three of their losses coming against conference rivals
(Dallas, Calgary and Vancouver). Also, Winnipeg has struggled with the man
advantage during this losing streak. They have converted on just two of 12
power plays in the past five games.

Goaltending has also been an issue
for the Jets over the past week and a half. Rookie netminder Michael
Hutchinson, who has been outstanding for the Jets this season, has allowed 12
goals in three games and was pulled in favour of Ondrej Pavelec in his last
game against the Flames. Pavelec has not been much better, giving up seven
goals in two starts. Both goalies will have to pick up their games should the
Jets want to continue fighting for a playoff spot.

the groove they were in earlier in January?
