Welcome back to another edition of Throwback Thursday!
Today in 1993, the Winnipeg Jets traded Phil Housley to the St. Louis Blues for Nelson Emerson and Stephane Quintal.
Housley, 28, had been acquired three years prior in the Dale Hawerchuk trade. He had a tremendous few years in Winnipeg scoring 64 goals and 259 points in 232 games. In the playoffs he was just as dynamic scoring 12 points in 13 games in the Jets’ playoff years in 1991-92 and 1992-93.
The 27-year-old Emerson came to Winnipeg and was a solid right-winger for two years. In those games, he scored 47 goals and 111 points in 131 games and in October 1995, he was traded to the Hartford Whalers for Darren Turcotte.
Quintal, who was 25 at the time of the deal, also only played two seasons for the Jets. The defenceman scored 14 goals and 49 points in 124 games. He was traded to the Montreal Canadiens in 1995 for a 2nd round pick later used to draft Jason Doig.
