With Mark Scheifele scoring his 30th goal of the year last night against the Ducks that gives the Jets two 30 goals scorers for the first time in almost a decade.
As Scheifele reached the 30 goal plateau for the first time in his career he joined Patrik Laine as the second Winnipeg player to reach the benchmark since 2008-09. At the time the Jets were still in Atlanta and it was Bryan Little and Kovalchuk that had 31 and 43 goals respectively.
While the Jets won’t be advancing to the second season there are still goals to strive for, and Scheifele reiterated that in his post-game availability:
“There’s still things to play for. Obviously, the playoffs are out of reach but there’s still a lot of things to fight for. Guys fight for jobs, guys showing what they’re made of and they definitely showed it tonight.”
There will certainly be a number of changes for Winnipeg over coming weeks and months, but with Scheifele and Laine already having the ability to reach 30 goals their offensive future certainly looks bright.
