The playoffs are drawing near as the Jets are wrapping up their second last road trip of the regular season with a visit to Vegas. This will be the third and final time the Jets and Golden Knights meet this year unless a conference final rematch is on the table. In the season series, Winnipeg has a 2-0 edge as they beat Vegas 4-1 in January and 6-3 in February.

Golden Knights Player To Watch

#81 Jonathan Marchessault  – C

Marchessault is the offensive leader for the Golden Knights as he’s first on the team in goals (24) and points (53). Marchessault has been absolutely dominant as of late with four goals in his last two games. He added two assists on Monday against San Jose to cap off a four point night. In the two games against Winnipeg, Marchessault only has one goal and will be looking to change that tonight. Always a dangerous player, Marchessault is the one that Winnipeg will have to keep their eye on.

Last Golden Knights Game

It was a frantic start to this game as the Sharks opened the scoring in the first minute of the game. The Golden Knights responded and a wild first period ended with a 3-2 lead for Vegas. The Golden Knights ran away with the game later in the third period and ended up winning 7-3.

Golden Knights Notes

  • The Golden Knights appear to be locked into third place in the Pacific Division and will have to start the playoffs on the road in either Calgary or San Jose.
  • With Mark Stone now an important part of the lineup, the Golden Knights have rattled off nine wins in ten games since acquiring him at the trade deadline. This was a dangerous team already and they got much better by bringing in Stone.

Jets Player To Watch

#29 Patrik Laine – LW

It was the last time the Jets and Golden Knights squared off that Patrik Laine ended the longest goal drought of his career. He ended up with two powerplay goals in that game, so let’s relive the moment, shall we?
With this in recent memory, Laine might need another game against Vegas to get his scoring touch back on track.

Last Jets Game

Connor Hellebuyck made 29 saves and a couple of quick goals to start the third period helped pace the Jets to a 3-0 win over the Anaheim Ducks on Wednesday night.

Jets Notes

  • As mentioned above, it’s the second last road trip of the season for the Jets. They return to Winnipeg for four straight games before heading on the road one final time.
  • It appears that Winnipeg is making noise around the NHL for more than just the Jets. A local company is taking the NHL by storm with their new protective equipment.
  • The defense seems to be constantly shuffling with injuries. Joe Morrow is back in the lineup while Beaulieu is sidelined with an undisclosed injury. Even though the team is holding up decently, Byfuglien and Morrissey can’t come back soon enough.
