JNGD.S8.G35 Flight Plan: Jets Continue Their West Side Story
By Zee
5 years agoIt’s going to be another late game with a 9:30 PM CST start time, so be sure to get your pregame naps in! After Tuesday’s lackluster game against the LA Kings, the Jets have had a day to rest and recuperate, so expect to see them firing on all cylinders. On the other end of the rink, San Jose is currently sitting in second place over a rather disappointing Pacific division and looking to prove themselves in an otherwise mediocre start to the season.

Winnipeg Jet To Watch
#85 Mathieu Perreault – Center
Scoring the Jet’s only goal in the 1-4 loss against the Kings on Tuesday, Mathieu Perreault has been on a tear lately, scoring a goal per game in the last 5 games. Jets fans know Perreault has a tendency be pretty streaky when it comes to scoring. Perhaps the most versatile Jet on the roster, Perreault should be projected to start on the 3rd line with Brandon Tanev and Adam Lowry.

Last Jets Game
The late night game on Tuesday against the Los Angeles Kings should be a night to forget, especially after the show stopper against Tampa Bay on Sunday. Overall the Kings played a full 60 minutes which included 27 saves from Jonathan Quick, earning themselves a 4-1 win and snapping the Winnipeg Jets five game winning streak. This was LA’s first win in five games, and a much needed win in a season that has been rather disappointing. The Jets’ lone goal was scored by Mathieu Perreault.

Jets Notebook
- The Jets will be looking to restart a winning streak after Tuesday’s loss to LA. The Jet have proven they are capable of rebounding after losses like like Tuesday’s.
- This is the penultimate game before Christmas break, after tonight’s game the Jets will head to Vancouver to face the Canucks.
San Jose Shark To Watch
#33 Martin Jones – Goalie
Tuesday’s game against The Minnesota Wild was exactly what he needed to get back into the swing of things and definitely made up for his performance against the Blackhawks on Sunday after being pulled in the first period. He had a shaky first period but seemed to get back into the game after Eric Staal rang one off the post but Jones managed to rebound, making 26 saves and ultimately earning his first shutout in 38 games. Jones will be looking to continue proving himself against the Jets.

Last Sharks Game
December 18th’s game against Minnesota Wild saw Logan Couture and Joe Pavelski score two beautiful bang bang goals within 29 seconds of each other in the second period. Couture would go on to score one more in the third, and Lukas Radil would finish the night out with an empty netter. Topping off the evening of course was Martin Jones’ 26 save shutout.

Sharks Notebook
- After the San Jose Sharks held a closed door team meeting earlier in the month, they’re now 7-1 since this meeting.
- Evander Kane is continuing to prove that moving to San Jose was exactly what he needed. He has a total of 10 goals, and 20 points in 35 games.
