Recently for the Jets…

This is game four of a six game road trip that has gone well enough for the Jets in terms of the fact they’ve gone 3-0-0 on it so far, but the quality of wins – especially Thursday night’s game against the New Jersey Devils where they were out-shot badly in the third period and for the entire game – hasn’t exactly been overwhelming. In the team’s defense, they are a group of walking wounded as they are still without Mark Scheifele, Jacob Trouba, Adam Lowry due to injury, while Blake Wheeler, Mathieu Perreault and Dmitry Kulikov can’t be at 100% health either thanks to various bumps, bruises and illnesses. Thankfully the Jets have Patrik Laine who still might score goals blindfolded with one hand tied behind his back, and they have Connor Hellebuyck in goal.

Recently for the Flyers…

Philly closed out the month of February with a six game win streak, only to have followed that up with a five game losing streak in March. Yes, the Flyers have been winless this month having gone 0-4-1. Despite the losing streak, the Flyers still remain in contention for top spot in the Metropolitan division as they are three points back of the Pittsburgh Penguins. Philadelphia as always is led by their captain Claude Giroux who has 23 goals and 80 points this season. The Flyers also made a move at the trade deadline to help shore up their goaltending by picking up Petr Mrazek from the Detroit Red Wings.. It’s a move that has had very meddling results as hes gone 3-3-1 with an .889 save percentage.

Recently between both teams…

Back on November 16, the Jets collected a 3-2 shoot-out win over the Flyers in a game where Hellebuyck made 30 saves. Up until March of last year, the Jets had been suffering a six game losing streak to the Flyers that dated back to 2013. The Jets franchise has also struggled at Wells Fargo Center going 8-17-4.

Gameday Prediction

This road trip for the Jets has gone well enough so far, but it’s had it’s issues. The sign of a good team is one that wins games they probably don’t deserve to win and the Jets have been doing that, but the luck may run out today. Jets keep it close but the Flyers ultimately win 4-3.
