JN Flight Plan: Depleted Jets Take on the Ducks
By KB
4 years agoThe Jets continue heading west after their pit stop in Regina on Saturday night. This time the game will be inside and it will be a lot nicer outside as the Jets are in California to take on the Ducks. It’s going to be an interesting game as the Jets will be playing without Adam Lowry who recently got suspended for his hit in the Heritage Classic. The Jets are hoping to battle through the adversity and take home a second straight victory.

Last Ducks Game
The Ducks got off to a quick start with a goal in the opening five minutes of the game. The lead was shortlived however as the Golden Knights tied the game up just seconds later. After that it was all Vegas as they cruised to a 5-2 victory.

Fun Ducks Fact…
- Ryan Getzlaf recently surpassed Corey Perry for the most games played as a Duck. With 997 games under his belt, Getzlaf is set to become the only player in frachise history to reach the 1,000 game plateau.
What They’re Saying…
“However, Luca Sbisa is a rather shocking pickup for the team. In 2018-19 he played only 9 games with the New York Islanders, spending most of his time in the press box as a healthy scratch.”
Anaheim Ducks: Luca Sbisa Claimed off Waivers by Winnipeg Jets – pucksofafeather.com
“It took 4 years for them to be respectable. Paul Kariya for them to be watchable. A decade for them to be good. 14 years for them to be the first California team to win a Stanley Cup. To be a fan of this team, you had to suffer. For many, many years you had to (invoking Carey Elwes), “get used to disappointment.””

Last Jets Game
It was one of the biggest spectacles of the season as the Flames and Jets faced off on a snowy Saturday evening in Regina. This was just the fourth Heritage Classic in history and the atmosphere was excellent. The game wasn’t too bad either as the Jets came away victorious thanks to a Morrissey slapper and a Little one-timer.

Fun Jets Facts…
- With Logan Shaw recently called up to the big club, the Jets now have three former Ducks on their roster as they head into Anaheim. While Shaw and Sbisa will not likely touch the ice, Mathieu Perreault also some history in Anaheim where he played one year back in 2013-14.
- The Jets will be without Adam Lowry for the next two games after he got suspended for his it on Oliver Kylington. It definitely wasn’t a good hit and Lowry deserved to be suspended for it. It was a needless play at the end of the period and Lowry definitely should have let up. He will have to wait until Saturday night to play his next game as the Jets are in San Jose on Friday and Vegas on Saturday.
- The Jets have enjoyed plenty of success against the Ducks in the last while. They have gone 6-0-1 in their last seven games including winning four straight against the Ducks. Maybe this is what Winnipeg needs if they want to keep up their winning streak.
What We’re Saying…
The Ducks on average are taking about 10 minutes of penalties per game while opponents against them take a little under eight per game. Given the Jets have excelled at staying out of the box so far this season, tonight is as good a chance as any for the Jets to help bump both of their numbers toward positive directions.
