JGD10: Jets Versus the Great Eight

Cam Farquharson
The Jets look to make things right against the Washington Capitals after a dismal showing to the Buffalo Sabres.
The Capitals come into Winnipeg riding a two game win streak against the Canucks and Flames to close their short jaunt into the Western Conference.
Last season the Jets beat the Capitals in overtime and lost in regulation. The Jets will be looking to take advantage of home ice and spoil the Capitals’ last game on their road trip. With a win tonight, the Jets will be back at .500.

WINNIPEG JETS (4-5-0)

Patrik Laine has drawn some comparisons to Ovechkin and we will get to see if these comparisons ring true tonight as the rookie faces the Capitals for the first time.
There were some roster moves made today as Drew Stafford was placed on the injured reserve and Mark Stuart is day-to-day with a lower body injury. Julian Melchiori was called up from the Manitoba Moose and will look to draw into the line up.
Connor Hellebuyck looks to get the start.

WASHINGTON CAPITALS (5-2-1)

The Capitals’ line up looks to stay the same. Brett Connolly scored a goal and Marcus Johansen had a pair in their 3-1 win over the Flames.
The undermanned Jets will have their hands full keeping the firepower of the Capitals shutdown.

PREDICTIONS

Game Prediction: The Jets will play a low event style of hockey due to the injuries on their back end. However, they will still lose the game 3-1.
Obvious Prediction: Alex Ovechkin will score on the powerplay, bringing him to 197 career powerplay goals.
Not So Obvious Prediction: Patrik Laine will score an identical goal to Ovehckin’s, forever cementing his comparison to Ovechkin.
