JGD 8: Jets face Avs in second of back to back

After beating the Stars 4-1 last night, the Jets hopped on a plane and headed to Denver to take on the Avalanche. Prior to boarding, Coach Maurice said the lineup would look the same, but Michael Hutchinson would get the call in net. (That being said, it was announced early this morning that Marko Dano got the call-up from the Moose and did travel with the team. With no morning skate, we probably won’t know if he plays until gametime).
The Jets look to build on yesterday’s outstanding showing by their young guns by getting back to .500 to start their first winning streak of the season. Puck drops at 8pm (Winnipeg time) and will be on TSN3 and TSN1290.

  • This match-up will be the first time the Jets face the Avs under new coach Jared Bednar.
  • The Jets won the first two match-ups last year before dropping the final three games to Colorado to lose the season series 3-2.
  • The Jets will stay overnight in Colorado, which is something they don’t generally do, before flying back on Saturday to get ready for a matinee against the Buffalo Sabres at 2pm at MTS Centre. This is part of their new ‘recovery plan’.
  • Avalanche have been off all week, haven’t played since last Saturday. Might be a tough test for the Jets coming off a back-to-back and playing a thoroughly rested team. Maybe the Avs will be rusty?
