The Winnipeg Jets are back in action this evening on ”Hockey Day In Canada” as they travel to Detroit to take on the Red Wings at Joe Louis Arena for the second and final time this season. The Red Wings defeated the Jets by a score of 4-3 back on Nov. 20, 2014 in Winnipeg with Tomas Tatar scoring the game winning goal.
The Jets enter today’s game holding onto the first Wild Card spot in the Western Conference with a record of 28-19-10, good enough 66 points. The Jets are 3-5-2 in their last ten games played and lost their last game to the Nashville Predators by a score of 3-1 on Thursday.
The Red Wings enter with a spot in the playoffs, sitting third in the Atlantic Division with a record of 31-13-9, for 71 points on the season. Detroit is on a hot streak as of late, winning eight games in their last 10, but dropped their last game to the Pittsburgh Penguins, 4-1 on Wednesday.

LINES

Winnipeg

Newly acquired forward Drew Stafford will remain on the second line with Mark Scheifele and Mathieu Perreault. I still think the Jets need to make a move and acquire another top-nine, or better, a top-six forward because Chris Thorburn should not be on the third line.

Like Garret Hohl noted in the last game preview, the defense pairings are odd due to the fact that the top-four defenseman on this team aren’t paired correctly. I’m not sure we will see any changes on the backend, but I will update this thread if there is any!

Ondrej Pavelec played last game for the Jets, so I would expect to see Michael Hutchinson start between the pipes in Detroit tonight. In 26 games played, Hutchinson has a record of 15-7-3, good enough for 2.18 GAA and .925 SV%.
Detroit

Henrik Zetterberg leads the Red Wings offensively with 48 points in 53 games played, while Tomas Tatar, Gustav Nyquist and Pavel Datsyuk are tied with 39 points.

Have always enjoyed watching Niklas Kronwall play and tonight should be no different. The defenceman has 28 points in 53 games played and has been a huge key to the Red Wings backend this season.
Jimmy Howard will get the nod for the Red Wings tonight.
Predictions
Game Day Predictions: The Winnipeg Jets will win tonight, 4-2.
Obvious Predictions:I think we will see Drew Stafford score his first goal as a Jet.
Not So Obvious Predictions: Chris Thorburn will take some penalties tonight…right?

We got some new gear coming to our Jets Nation store.
