JGD 38: Jets Square Off Against Streaking Blue Jackets
By Sammi Silber
7 years agoAfter an impressive win Tuesday against Chicago, the Winnipeg Jets are looking for their third straight win. Unfortunately, to keep their streak going, they’ll have to defeat the Columbus Blue Jackets, who are going for their 14th straight win.
Of course, just when things are looking up… they have one of their toughest matchups to date… Anyway, let’s stop thinking about that and get into projected lineups, eh?
Lineup:
Winnipeg (17-17-3)
LW | C | RW |
---|---|---|
Nikolaj Ehlers | Mark Scheifele | Patrik Laine |
Mathieu Perreault | Bryan Little | Blake Wheeler |
Marko Dano | Nicolas Petan | Drew Stafford |
Shawn Matthias | Adam Lowry | Joel Armia |
Defensive Pairings | |
---|---|
Josh Morrissey | Dustin Byfuglien |
Tobias Enstrom | Jacob Trouba |
Ben Chiarot | Paul Postma |
Goalies | |
---|---|
Connor Hellebuyck | Michael Hutchinson |
Columbus (24-5-4)
LW | C | RW |
---|---|---|
Brandon Saad | Alexander Wennberg | Nick Foligno |
Boone Jenner | Brandon Dubinsky | Cam Atkinson |
Matt Calvert | William Karlsson | Josh Anderson |
Scott Hartnell | Lukas Sedlak | Sam Gagner |
Defensive Pairings | |
---|---|
Zach Werenski | Seth Jones |
Jack Johnson | David Savard |
Ryan Murray | Markus Nutivaara |
Goalies | |
---|---|
Sergei Bobrovsky | Curtis McElhinney |
Game Prediction: Columbus and Winnipeg split the 2015-16 season series, but Columbus has turned things around to the point where they hold one of the top records in the NHL right now. Given the Jets just hit the .500 mark, I’d say Columbus takes this one for their 14th straight victory. They win 6-2.
Obvious Prediction: Cam Atkinson has points in four of his last five games, and Alexander Wennberg is riding a three-game point streak. Expect one of them to leave with another goal or helper under their belt.
Not So Obvious Prediction: Winnipeg and Columbus will remain tied through the first period. Then, halfway through the second, Columbus gets things going and takes over offensively. Though Winnipeg strikes once in the second, they only manage one more goal in their not-so-great third period (not out of the ordinary).
