Jets re-assign Tanev, announce Myers surgery

This season has been a tough one for Tyler Myers. After playing in only 11 games earlier in the season, Myers suffered a lower-body injury that has kept him out all season. Now, he will require surgery.

The surgery requires six to eight weeks to recover from, and the team plans on having Myers back for the end of the season. According to Illegal Curve, the injury is not in the same spot as where he had two surgeries last season. 

As noted by Lawless above, the Jets have had difficulty getting any sort of push into their to four this season. 

Of the course of his three years in Winnipeg Myers has battled a levy of injuries. Despite playing in 73 games last year, he still required hip and knee surgery following last season that took him a while to recover from.

Now, his latest surgery will see him remain out of the lineup for sometime.

In other news, the team announced transactions re-assigning Brandon Tanev to the Manitoba Moose, while activating Drew Stafford off the IR. 

Stafford was injured with what was called a lower-body injury on Jan 21 against the St. Louis Blues. 

This season, Stafford has played in 34 games scoring four goals and eight assists. He is averaging 13:51 in average time on ice.

Rookie winger Brandon Tanev has appeared in 39 games with the Jets this season and has scored two goals and two assists, averaging 11:16 in time on ice per game. 

Tanev has appeared in six games with the Moose this season, scoring one goal and two assists.
