days since the 2015 World Junior Championships kicked off in Toronto and
Montreal, and it has been one of the most intriguing tournaments thus far.

Canada
Nic Petan –
Canada has been off to a hot start, as
expected, and Petan has been a huge part of his country’s success. The Portland
Winterhawks forward has half as many points as the team does goals with six
points (1g, 5a,) which is good of the tournament lead in points.

Josh Morrissey –
Canada has yet to give up a goal in
this year’s tournament and Morrissey has been a big part of the team’s strong
play. Canada has shut out both Slovakia (8-0) and Germany (4-0) in their first
two games and is looking like the team to beat early on. The Calgary-native has
added a helper and is a +4 in the early stages of the round-robin stage.

Eric Comrie –
As expected Comrie was going to split
the first two games for Canada with his counterpart, Zach Fucale, and he did
not disappoint in his game. The Edmonton-born netminder turned away all 17
shots he faced against the hard-working German squad. His outing will make a
difficult decision for head coach Benoit Groulx moving forward in the
tournament.

USA
Chase De Leo –
The Californian-born centre played on
America’s top line with Jack Eichel and Alex Tuch. De Leo did not score in
regulation during the United States’ 2-1 shootout victory over Finland, but he
did score the shootout winner for the States.

In two games with Denmark, the Jets
first-round draft pick in 2014 has a goal and is a -2. Denmark forced Russia
into a shootout in their first game and fell 5-1 to Sweden in their second

Jan Kostalek –
Kostalek and the rest of the Czech players
have had a rough start to the 2015 World Juniors, dropping their first two
games to Sweden and Switzerland both by a 5-2 score. So far in this tournament

Czech’s will need to turn it around against Russia and Denmark to keep close in
