Jets Prospect Update | January 31st, 2017

A good week in the AHL highlights the prospect update. Let’s take a look at how everyone played this week!

Jansen Harkins and the Cougars skated to two wins this week, only falling to Michael Spacek’s first star performance against the Rebels on Friday. Harkins contributed three assists the next night in Edmonton in an 11-3 trouncing of the Oil Kings and scored the game winner Sunday afternoon in a less embarrassing 3-1 win over the same Oil Kings.

Matteo Gennaro continues his audition for an NHL contract and a spot on the Moose next season, recording a pair of goals and three assists in three games this week. Gennaro had three assists in an overtime loss to the Pats and a couple goals in an 8-3 win over the struggling Kootenay Ice.

Michael Spacek was the first star of the game on Friday in a 5-2 win over the Cougars. Spacek scored a goal and added two assists. The Rebels are currently in a playoff spot, but it is by no means a comfortable lead. Five points separate the Rebels and the Blades, who are in the last wild card spot.

Luke Green scored his first goal with the Sherbrooke Phoenix this week. It ended up being the only Phoenix goal on Saturday in a 2-1 loss to the Mooseheads. Green earned third star of the game.

Jordy Stallard has missed the past three games with an injury. No updates on Logan Stanley, whose injury and surgery puts him out for the remainder of the season. Stanley had surgery last week in Winnipeg on a torn meniscus in his right knee.

The injury bug has extended to Mikhail Berdin, who has not played since January 21st. Sioux Falls played three games this week and Berdin was listed as injured for each.

CJ Franklin contributed a secondary assist on Friday in a 4-2 win over LSSU. Franklin fired three shots on net and was 54% in the faceoff circle (22 of 41).

Tucker Poolman had a pair of secondary assists on Friday and two shots on goal in a 5-2 win over Colorado College. Poolman and North Dakota were shut out on Saturday in a 45-save performance with Poolman tallying five.

Erik Foley had six shots on goal over the weekend in a pair of Providence wins over UNH.

Matt Ustaski assisted on the overtime goal on Saturday at Madison Square Garden as Wisconsin took both games against Ohio State. After plenty of healthy scratches in the first half of the season, Ustaski has now played in five straight games. Ustaski also won 15 of the 19 faceoffs he took this week (79%)!

Mason Appleton and Michigan State did not play this week. Jack Glover was scratched in both games the team played at Xcel Energy Center against Minnesota-Duluth.

Pavel Kraskovsky scored the only goal for Lokomotiv in a 3-1 loss to Traktor last Wednesday and added an assist in a 5-3 win over Salavat Yulaev on Friday. Kraskovsky had four shots on goal and was 41% on faceoffs (9 of 22).

Sami Niku scored a goal this week in a 2-1 win over KalPa. Niku fired 14 shots on net in three games played.

Jacob Cederholm played three games with IK Pantern this week. Cederholm did not record a point, but got four shots on net. HIs best game came on Sunday, with 26:41 of ice time and three shots on net.

The Manitoba Moose won twice and lost once this week and sport a record of 18-20-3-2. 

Dan DeSalvo scored two powerplay goals last Tuesday in a 2-1 win over the Texas Stars. Eric Comrie stopped 27 of 28 in the win.

The Moose made their way to North Carolina on Friday, dropping a 4-1 decision to the Charlotte Checkers. Kyle Connor found JC Lipon for the only Moose goal.

The Moose rebounded for a 2-1 win in game two of the series in Charlotte. Eric Comrie stopped an incredible 35 of 36. Brendan Lemieux scored on the powerplay, tipping Kichton’s point shot. Jack Roslovic channelled his inner Mario Lemieux, winning a faceoff forward and feeding a wide open Kyle Connor for the game winner.

Jamie Phillips remains the backup to Comrie, and awaits his first taste of AHL action. The Moose have a back-to-back series at home against San Jose on Friday and Saturday.

Jack Roslovic participated in the AHL All-Star Game and Skills Competition. Roslovic scored a nifty goal in the breakaway competition and then put up the fourth fastest time in AHL history in the fastest skater contest. The Central Division team won the All-Star Game 3 on 3 with Roslovic tallying two assists in the final.
