A strong showing from Erik Foley and Jansen Harkins highlights this week’s prospect update. Let’s take a look at what went on in the prospect world last week!

CHL

Jansen Harkins missed two games, but came back firing with two goals and three assists this week. Harkins scored both a highlight reel goal and assist on Sunday in a 4-3 loss to the Chiefs, and had a goal and two assists in the 3rd period of last night’s game in a 7-2 win.
Matteo Gennaro had a goal and an assist on Saturday in the Hitmen’s only win this week. Gennaro added another assist to tie the game on Sunday, but his team fell to the Oil Kings in OT.
Michael Spacek continues to dazzle with his playmaking abilities, and this week was no exception despite the Rebels losing all four games played. Spacek assisted on a goal last Wednesday and scored on Saturday.
Luke Green was held without a point this week, and has not registered a point since his goal on January 28th. Green tried his best on Friday, getting six shots on net.

USHL

Mikhail Berdin has still not played a game since January 21st. However, he was healthy enough to serve as backup to Jeremy Swayman last night. Sioux Falls play both Friday and Saturday and Berdin should see action in at least one game if he is fully healthy.

NCAA

CJ Franklin and Tucker Poolman were off this week.
Erik Foley and the Providence College Friars beat Connecticut twice this week. Foley had three shots on net in the first game; a 4-1 win. Foley had the best game of his college career on Friday, recording a hat trick plus an assist in a 4-3 win. His hat trick came with seven shots on goal.
Mason Appleton scored a goal and added a pair of assists, helping Michigan State to a win and a tie against Michigan. Appleton had seven shots on goal over the weekend.
Matt Ustaski and the Badgers lost both games this weekend to the powerhouse Penn State team. Ustaski scored the tying goal on Saturday, but it was not enough as the Badgers lost 5-2.
Let us all rejoice, as Jack Glover found his way back into the lineup for a Saturday night game against Ohio State. Unfortunately, he was -2 and took a holding penalty in the first period that resulted in a goal against. Glover has struggled to find playing time this year on a Minnesota defence stacked with NHL draft picks.

Overseas

Pavel Kraskovsky did not dress for Lokomotiv’s only game of the week this past Monday. It is unclear if this is due to injury.
Sami Niku scored a fantastic goal and followed up with a pair of assists this week and is now on a three-game point streak. I have seen and heard speculation over the season that Niku is willing to come across the pond next season. It is in the hands of the Jets to offer him a contract. Below, you will find his goal and a shift-by-shift video I did up for the same game on the 8th.
Jacob Cederholm did not dress for HV71’s game last night despite his 17 minutes of ice time in the previous game. Three international U20 games have shown up on his EliteProspects page, but I am unable to determine if this is current. There was a sickness travelling around the HV71 locker room last week, so hopefully that is not the issue.

AHL

The Manitoba Moose played three times this week, recording a win, a loss, and a shootout loss.
On Wednesday night, the Moose dropped a 4-1 decision to the Grand Rapids Griffins. Manitoba’s Scott Kosmachuk scored first on a pass from Brandon Tanev, but the Griffins responded with four straight unanswered.
The Moose travelled over to Cleveland and split a couple shootout decisions against the Monsters. Kyle Connor scored the only shootout goal for the Moose and had a nice helper in the game. Connor’s second assist has now been given to Kichton as he must have slightly tipped it out front. Eric Comrie stopped an impressive 29 of 31.
Sunday night, the Moose won a 2-1 shootout decision after surviving a Too Many Men penalty in overtime. Kyle Connor once again scored in the shootout and Dan DeSalvo added the winner. Eric Comrie was once again solid with a 31-save performance and three more saves in the shootout.
