Playoffs baby!!
The Jets did not win. The Jets did not score a single goal, not even in the shootout.
Still, they picked up a single point and with the Los Angeles Kings losing in regulation the Winnipeg Jets 2.0 will be going into the playoffs for the very first time in history.
Oh ya… and the Colorado Avalanche won the scoreless game in a shootout.
Let’s break it down.

Three Keys

Back-to-back-to-back Shutouts – It has often been said that the Jets are a good enough team that all they need is league average goaltending. Well that’s pretty much what they’ve received on average this year and they’re in. Yes there have been ups and downs, but what they got was average. What was not average though is the last nine periods where Ondrej Pavelec has not allowed a single goal.
UnBerraBle – The only thing better than Ondrej Pavelec tonight was Reto Berra. I know. Crazy. Berra stopped everything the Jets threw at him, and it was a lot. Well over 60% of the game was played in the Avs’ defensive zone.
We’re In – Jets were in a win-and-you-are-in situation. They lost the game, but thanks to the LA Kings for not being able to beat the magic of Johnny “hockey” Gaudreau, our team is going to the big show!
