Jets Nation Recap: That’s two!

The Winnipeg Jets knew a lot was on the line today and played that way. They came off strong in the first period, dominating in possession, chances, and shots, but Dubnyk kept Minnesota in it. The game ended up going into OT with a 1:1 score, and Byfuglien buried it with a sweet snipe for the Jets 2nd ROW in a row.

Top Line and Pair – The Minnesota Wild are an above average possession team, but almost exclusively from their top forwards. The combo of Ladd-Little-Wheeler and Enstrom-Bogosian were matched heavily against the Wild’s best but came out in top, allowing the rest Jets to take advantage of the Wild’s lesser players.

The top line may not have pulled the Jets best possession numbers, but they helped the team in a shutdown role while making some chances of their own.

Hutch is Clutch  – Devan Dubnyk was almost spot on his 94% save percentage average. The only way you are going to beat a goalie like that is either outshoot them extremely or have your own goalie play on his head even more… and Michael Hutchinson did that.

Hutchinson posted a very impressive 96.7% save percentage, although he was helped with a post and straying puck trickle safely to the side.

Offense from the Backend – Tobias Enstrom scored the first goal off of a deflection, and Dustin Byfuglien (who should be a defenceman) finished the game in overtime. Both Toby Enstrom and Jacob Trouba created havoc for the Wild in the offensive zone and even Mark Stuart got in with a decent play.
