Jets Nation Prospect Profile 2015: #15-11

The next five profiles in our prospect series have been completed, so let’s take a look.

Kosmachuk was a dominant goal scorer in the OHL, although struggled in his rookie AHL season. The gritty right winger did pick up the pace significantly in the later half, scoring 21 points in his final 40 games. Kosmachuk is a distant potential darkhorse for the Jets this year, but will likely be playing a top-six scorer role for the Manitoba Moose.

Kostalek is a smooth skating defender well regarded for his defensive acumen, but opportunity about midseason presented Kostalek a chance to show his offensive game. In return Kostalek scored 50 points in his final 49 games, combining both regular season and QMJHL playoffs. Kostalek will graduate to pro-hockey this year and likely log big minutes for the Manitoba Moose.

A near 25 per cent drop in production and some injuries caused Kichton to fall in many fans opinion, but the St. John’s IceCaps were a weaker team, who experienced an even larger 29 per cent drop in production. The Moose look to be quite the young team, and Kichton will be looked at to carry much of the team’s offence from the backend.

Lemieux is the first piece from the Evander Kane and Zach Bogosian trade to appear in our rankings. The young and agitating power-forward has size, skill, and bloodlines which makes him a potential above average bottom six piece for the future. Lemieux may not be ready for the NHL quite yet but he is getting there and has some desirable skill.

Spacek has done one thing very well, and that is consistently score against tougher and older competition. This includes being the highest under-18 point scorer in the Czech professional league in the past 10 years. Spacek will play for the Red Deer Rebels in the WHL and will be leaned on heavily to score for the Memorial Cup hosting team.
