We continue our summer prospect profile series, checking in at #15.

PCS% is the percentage of similar players in height, league, scoring, and age that made the NHL, while PCS points per game is the production typical of those that did make it.

Kosmachuk’s point production development has been consistent even if unspectacular. He has however scored goals at a very impressive rate. Our friends at Arctic Ice Hockey last year discussed Kosmachuk’s penchant for putting the puck in the net.

Not everything has been all roses for the young forward.

Over the first half of the year, Kosmachuk totaled only three goals and four assists over 30 games. Kossy’s early struggles were not to last though. For the remainder of the season Kosmachuk posted 11 goals and 10 assists over 40 games.

Kosmachuk’s true talent level last season likely sat somewhere between the 0.23 and 0.53 point per game pace. Still, it was impressive for the rookie winger to put up that point pace on the Eastern Conference’s second lowest scoring team.

Kossy has a motor and has the skill to be an above average bottom-six winger; the next two seasons will play a critical role on whether Kosmachuk reaches that upside.

Kosmachuk will take on more responsibility this season, as the Manitoba Moose look to add quite a few rookies this season. Kosmachuk will be looking to show the later half of last season is only the start for this young player.
