The Winnipeg Jets begin a road trip against an opponent that has proven to be a tough out as a narrow favourite at home.
The Jets are the -105 underdog while the Anaheim Ducks are -115 favourites with a 5.5-goal total on the NHL odds for Tuesday at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com. The Jets are 7-2 in their last nine away games against the Pacific Division, with the total going UNDER in five of those games. However, Anaheim is 14-6 in its last 20 regular-season home games as a favourite of -115 to -135 on the moneyline, with the total finishing UNDER in 13 of those games.

The Jets are 6-6-0 on the season, with the total having finished UNDER in six of their last nine away games as a road underdog at online sports betting sites. The Jets, whose offence is based around center Mark Scheifele, rate 11th in the 31-team NHL in shot percentage at five-on-five at 50.80 per cent, which is a fairly thin basis for believing an offensive turnaround will happen immediately. Patrik Laine might also be a game-time decision after leaving practice early on Monday with an undisclosed injury concern.
The Jets are 26th overall in goal scoring (2.50) and 17th in goals against (3.08). On special teams, the Jets power play is 22nd (16.3 percent) and the penalty killing unit (64.0) is 31st and last. Goalie Connor Hellebuyck is 5-4-0 with a 2.22 goals-against average and .933 save percentage.
The Ducks are 7-6-0 so far this season and, interestingly enough, the total has finished UNDER in 11 of their last 16 games as a home favorite. A lack of natural offense from their Ryan Getzlaf-led first line has contributed to the Ducks ranking 27th in the NHL at shots percentage at five-on-five at 46.51 percent. They are also one spot below the Jets in goal scoring at 27th overall (2.46), although they are a solid fourth in goals against (2.38).
The Ducks power play ranks 27th (9.7 percent) while their penalty killing ranks 20th (78.7). In goal, John Gibson is 4-6-0 but has a 2.52 goals-against average and .923 save percentage.
The Jets will have a two-day break before playing back-to-back games against the San Jose Sharks and Vegas Golden Knights on Friday and Saturday to complete their road trip.
