Today the NHL announced details for the 2018 NHL Global Series, including the dates for the matchups between the Winnipeg Jets and Florida Panthers.
Back in January of this year, the NHL revealed some early details on the 2018 edition of the NHL Global Series which sees teams playing a couple of games across the pond. This year, the Winnipeg Jets will be taking part in the global mission with two regular-season games against the Florida Panthers. The teams will play a pair of back-to-back games on November 1st and 2nd at the Hartwall Arena in Helsinki, Finland, with both contests starting at 8pm CST.
This won’t be the first time the Jets have landed in Finland as they played three games against Teemu Selanne’s former team, Jokerit. This time around, the two games between the Jets and Panthers will mark the fifth and sixth NHL regular-season games played in Helsinki with all of them being played at Hartwall Arena. Tickets to both games between the will go on sale this coming Monday (March 12th) at 9 am CST at https://www.livenation.fi.
This will be the seventh season where the NHL has travelled overseas to play regular-season games in an attempt to make the brand an international commodity. According to the NHL, these trips are geared towards rewarding the legions of loyal fans that cannot regularly attempt NHL games and will feature some of the league’s brightest young stars. Obviously, Patrik Laine will be a huge draw in Helsinki and the Jets should look forward to a home atmosphere despite being thousands of miles from Bell MTS Place.
