past the jump to read what went down.

The
Statistics

Not a
terrible way to end the season.  The
IceCaps played two games winning one and losing one in OT.  They saw a spike in a number of their
underlying numbers, especially those on their specials teams.

Friday’s 4-3
SO Win vs Springfield

[ IceCap’sRecap ] [ Highlights ]
The second
last game of the year was against Springfield.
While the Falcons had the slight possession edge, when you can’t
outshoot them, then out luck them.  The
IceCaps won in the shootout thanks to goals from Balisy and Armia.  Armia seems to have gotten back in a groove with
the IceCaps.  On special teams the
penalty kill was perfect and the power play had some success.  Eric Comrie continues to look good as he
posts another Quality Start
,
stopping both shots in the shootout, and earned himself the first star on the
night.

Saturday’s 3-4
OT Loss vs Springfield

[ IceCap’sRecap ] [ Highlights ]
The final
game of the year was a rematch with the Springfield Falcons.  While the team could not keep up with them in
possession, and their advantage in puck luck didn’t help, the IceCaps saw
themselves earn 1 last point on the year.
Eric Comrie did not play, nor was he the backup, as Peter Budaj was
given the final start on the year.  The
special teams looked excellent as the penalty kill was perfect and the powerplay
scored 2 goals.

The
Schedule

The IceCaps
have officially finished for the year as they did not make the Calder Cup
post-season.  These weekly IceCaps Recaps
will cease for the summer as there is no more regular AHL information to update
you about.  JetsNation will continue to
keep you on any information that does arise related to their AHL affiliate.
Next season
the IceCaps will be moving to Winnipeg and will most likely change their name
and logo.  To those Jets prospects moving
to the ‘Peg we only have this to share with them:
