After earning his first career Vezina Trophy last season, Winnipeg Jets starting netminder Connor Hellebuyck sits in a three-way tie atop the odds to claim the award for a second straight season in 2021 at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com.
Hellebuyck is listed at +500 on the Vezina Trophy odds for 2021, putting him in a dead heat with the Tampa Bay Lightning’s Andrei Vasilevskiy and the Boston Bruins’ Tuukka Rask. Those three goaltenders were all finalists for the award last season, with Hellebuyck earning 19 first-place votes en route to the victory.
Hellebuyck finished second in the NHL in goalie wins last season with 31, putting him four behind Vasilevskiy. The Jets netminder put up a 2.57 goals-against average and a .922 save percentage during the campaign, and led the league with six shutouts and 1,656 saves. Rask had a league-best 2.12 GAA with a .929 save percentage and five shutouts. Vasilevskiy had a 2.56 GAA and a .917 save percentage, leading the Lightning to a Stanley Cup championship.
Vasilevskiy won the Vezina Trophy in the 2018/19 season. Rask was the winner in 2013/14.
The Vegas Golden Knights’ Robin Lehner trails the top three favorites at +650 at sports betting sites to win the Vezina Trophy in the season ahead, followed by the New York Rangers’ Igor Shesterkin, the Philadelphia Flyers’ Carter Hart, and the Toronto Maple Leafs’ Frederik Andersen all at +1100 on those NHL odds. Of that group only Lehner received any Vezina Trophy votes last season, earning a single second-place vote for his campaign.
Philipp Grubauer, Ilya Samsonov, Braden Holtby, Carey Price, and Marc-Andre Fleury are all set at +1500 on the Vezina Trophy odds, with Ben Bishop, Semyon Varlamov, Jordan Binnington, and Jacob Markstrom rounding out the list at +1800 odds. Markstrom finished fourth in Vezina Trophy voting last season as a member of the Vancouver Canucks, but signed as a free agent with the Calgary Flames in the offseason.
