Minnesota Wild forward Jason Zucker is a tremendously fast skater and he also has a quick release. He does pretty much everything at warp speed.
The Winnipeg Jets found that out the hard way on Sunday evening, when Zucker pounced promptly on a loose puck in the neutral zone off of the opening faceoff and rushed into the Jets zone. He walked Jacob Trouba with a lovely move and beat Michael Hutchinson to open the scoring. The entire sequence too just 10 seconds.
Here’s a .gif of Zucker’s lovely goal, courtesy Gif Master Steph:
It’s not a moment that Trouba or Hutchinson are going to want to see on tape (why do we keep talking about players watching tape, when no one watches anything on tape anymore?), but they’ve both been nearly flawless in the early going this season so they were due for a mistake.
And anyway the Jets promptly rebounded, answering with two quick goals from the reunited Andrew Ladd, Bryan Little and Blake Wheeler line.
