seem to be concerned about a team’s prospect list and who will be the next

Below is a list of Winnipeg’s top 10 prospects, and
reasons that they are positioned where they are on the list.

Without further ado, lets get started.
#10: Eric Comrie – G, Tri-City Americans (WHL) [Last
Ranking: Unranked]
One of two second round picks for the Jets in 2013, Comrie has had a modest
start to the 2014-15 season. He has six wins in 11 games and has posted a 2.53
GAA, which is a career high for the young netminder.

#9: Eric O’Dell – C, St. John’s IceCaps (AHL) [Last
Ranking: Unranked]
One of the older prospects on our list, O’Dell has contributed to St. John’s
offence as they look to return to the Calder Cup finals for a second straight
year. The 24-year-old has two goals and three assists in seven games and is
expected to be a call up often to the Jets after playing 30 games in the NHL
last season.

#8: Scott Kosmachuk – RW, St. John’s IceCaps (AHL) [Last

The lone right winger on the list, Kosmachuk is playing his first season of pro
hockey in the AHL. Scott is looking to build off his 101-point season in Guelph
last season, which included a trip to the Memorial Cup finals. In eight games
this season, the 20-year-old has two goals and 10 PIMs.

The second goalie on our list is the lone netminder with a win for the IceCaps
this season. So far he has a record of 3-1-1 in his first professional season.

#6: Andrew Copp – C, U. of Michigan Wolverines (NCAA)

The young centreman is looking to build off of a 29 point season last year in
his third season with the Wolverines. So far he has just two assists in five
games this year, but that is no reason to doubt this 20-year-old.

#5: J.C. Lipon – C, St. John’s IceCaps (AHL) [Last
Ranking: Unranked]
A gritty forward in his second professional season with the IceCaps has picked
up right where he left off last year. Lipon has 16 PIMs in nine games along
with four points to start the young 2014-15 season. What excites me most about
Lipon is he has been 100+ PIMs consistently in his career and has contributed
offensively as well.

#4: Nicolas Petan – C, Portland Winterhawks (WHL) [Last
Ranking: Unranked]
Petan has been on a tear in the WHL for the past two seasons, putting up 100+
points in back to back years as a 17 and 18-year-old. Now in his 19-year-old
season, Petan hasn’t shown any signs of letting up this year scoring just one
goal but adding 10 helpers in nine games this season. The Winterhawks have
struggled early on this season, but Petan has not.

Petan has been on a tear in the WHL for the past two seasons, putting up 100+
points in back to back years as a 17 and 18-year-old. Now in his 19-year-old
season, Petan hasn’t shown any signs of letting up this year scoring just one

goals and adding five assists in his first seven games. I wouldn’t be surprised
if we see Klingberg playing in Winnipeg at some point this season.

Despite playing in just 10 NHL games, Klingberg strikes me as the NHL ready of
all Jets prospects. He has enjoyed a strong start to his season scoring two
goals and adding five assists in his first seven games. I wouldn’t be surprised
if we see Klingberg playing in Winnipeg at some point this season.
#2: Josh Morrissey – D, Prince Albert Raiders (WHL) [Last
Ranking: Unranked]
The lone rearguard on my list, is still one of Winnipeg’s brightest young
talents that everyone is keeping their eyes on. His speed, puck movement and
ice vision are all strong assets to this young d-man’s skillset. So far this
season, Morrissey has two goals and three assists in P.A., but we can expect
those numbers to climb I like most Jets fans cannot wait for the day he and
Trouba are paired up together playing for the Jets.

his feet as he continues to grow into a bonafide NHL star.
