I will preface this article with a disclaimer. I am not here to tell you how good or bad Connor Hellebuyck has or hasn’t been. I am not here to say that Laurent Brossoit would have stolen Game one or Game two for the Jets. I am just here to lay out all of the goals against on Hellebuyck and let you, one of the most passionate fan bases in the world, decide.

There are a lot of people down on Connor right now. That will happen no matter who the goalie is after losing two games at home. Is it fair? Is it warranted? Let’s have a look at each of the goals against through the first two games of this series.

The Jets had scored in the first period of the game and had been coasting until this point. The Blues were going to push and push they did.

A faceoff draw in your zone is always a danger and when Copp loses this one the crowd heads to the net almost immediately. That’s a big crowd of players in front of Connor with a total of 5 bodies standing between David Perron at the point and the net.

The shot comes clean through the crowd and it’s as if Connor never sees it.

Late into the game, both teams pushing back and forth with an edge to St. Louis since their tying goal.

Patrick Maroon wants the puck more in every battle he gets into. First to get in the zone past three Jets and maintain possession, and then in the corner coming out with the puck. It looks like he (Maroon) will just continue to skate around the net and continue the cycle when he slides it out short to Tyler Bozak and a quick release later, it’s in the back of the net. Hellebuyck looks to be in a decent position but it goes in nonetheless.

Early in the game and the Blues get a two on one.

A quick breakout from the Blues with Josh Morrissey getting caught swinging his stick in no-mans land. The two on one is defended (I think) well by Trouba and it’s pretty much shot all the way because of it.

Less than four minutes after Laine scores to put the Jets up for the first time in this game, Maroon is found all alone in front off a pass from behind the goal line.

Alex Pietrangelo dumps the puck in on Hellebuyck and that handcuffs him. The puck falls to Robert Thomas swooping in with two Jets following him behind the net before he swings it over to Maroon open in front. A couple of chances off the pad and the puck is in.

Just about three minutes afterward, Oskar Sundqvist gets the puck between the circles.

A bit of a stretch pass up to David Perron springs a three on two for St. Louis. He enters the zone and finds Sundqvist with a ton of time to unleash a shot five-hole.

From the Blues end to the back of the Jets net in seconds.

Colton Parayko up to Jay Bouwmeester in the blink of an eye. Finding Ryan O’Reilly streaking into the Jets zone, a shot through Chiarot’s legs (I’m still not sure if it doesn’t hit Ben’s skate) and past Hellbuyck.

Connor Hellebuyck is our goalie for Game Three and Jets fans will surely support him. He has always played well when the money is on the line and hopefully tonight is no different. What do you think? Is this 2-0 hole on #37? Will he turn it around?
