You had better hurry because the deadline is THIS Friday. The events of this summer have definitely left me a bit nostalgic and I have spent many moments reliving my great times spent at the old barn.
I still remember my first NHL game. It was November 14th, 1979 (thanks again google) and it was against Hartford. It was the only game I went to that year and it was the only time I ever attended a game with my Dad and my Grandfather. I obviously didn’t know it at the time but it was special because it was the only game I ever attended with Hank (my Grandfather) who was very important in my life. What was also neat was it was the first time that most people around us had ever sat in the new bleachers that they recently added that summer once the Jets joined the NHL. I remember you could feel it shake and that bothered me. It was also the first and last time I got to watch the immortal Gordie Howe play. (My memory is fuzzy though and I can’t be certain if Bobby Hull played that night or not) I can still remember old Hank yelling because the Jets iced it on a power play. That still bothers me to this day when it happens. And then there was the hot dogs…still the best in the NHL. The only place close is Montreal. Toasted buns = delicious. The home team won 3-2 and this young man went away pretty happy!
So what are your favorite moments, what was your first NHL game? Don’t be shy, share in the comments section! I’d love to hear your favorite memories.
