Tonight the Winnipeg Jets look to build off of their win against the St. Louis Blue on Monday as they start a two-game road trip.The trip is starting in hockey town as they take on the hot Detroit Red Wings at Little Caesars Arena.
The Red Wings have stunning 5-1-1 record in part to Alex DeBrincat’s nine goals in the first seven games. The Wings are going to be hungry tonight looking for a win after suffering their first overtime loss of the season. They lead the NHL in goals for with 34 in seven games. The reason for all those goals the Wings are 41.3 percent on the power play.
The Jets power play will need to step if they want to improve their 16.4 percent power play success rate.
The Michigan native Kyle Connor has had success in past visits as he has scored 4 goals along with 2 assists for 6 points in the 6 games against Detroit throughout his career. Connor also played with the Michigan Wolverines in the 2015-16 season where he scored an impressive 35 goals with 36 assists for 71 points.
It is confirmed it will be the Jets other Michigan native Connor Hellebuyck between the pipes against Manitoban James Reimer. Reimer had excellent numbers against the Jets last year with the San Jose Sharks. Posing a 2-1 record stopping 104 of 112 shots.
