Winnipeg Jets Draft Kristian Vesalainen

Jun 23, 2017, 21:40 EDT
With the 24th overall selection* in the 2017 NHL Draft, the Jets select Forward Kristian Vesalainen from Frolunda of the Swedish Hockey League.
Vesalainen, 18, is a native of Helsinki Finland, and plays both left and right wing. The 6’3″, 209lb winger put up 6 points (1 goal, 5 assists) for Frolunda HC, and looks to use his power forward style to create success at the NHL level. Originally, he was ranked in the top 20, but fell to the 24th pick.
“This Finn plays a power forward type game, and possesses the size, strength and skating to reap the benefits of it, though he also has a powerful enough shot to score from distance.”
