The Jets are looking for revenge after being handed a 5-2 loss the last time they played the Blue Jackets. This is the second game of a back-to-back that saw the Jets get a point on an overtime loss against the Penguins. The Jets will be looking to build off last night’s game with a win tonight to trend towards a favourable October.

Recently For The Jets…

The Jets are coming off of an overtime loss that saw Phil Kessel score the game winner for the Penguins for the second game in a row in overtime.
The fact that the Jets were able to hold the Stanley Cup Champions to 1 goal in regulation speaks to the skill that is on the Jets’ roster. The big guns for the Jets were a little quiet last night and they will look to be on the scoring sheet for the Jets tonight.
Matt Hendricks day went as well as could be expected. He won 7 of 10 faceoffs and saw a ton of time on the penalty kill. However, in the 4+ minutes he spent on the ice at even strength, he did not fare well with keeping the puck out of the Jets’ end and directing it towards the Pens’ side of the ice. He had 3 shot attempts against and only 1 for with an offensive zone start percentage of 20%.
Time will tell if the decision to keep Hendricks in the lineup as a faceoff specialist over offensively minded players will bite Maurice in the rear end.
Captain Blake Wheeler saw a large amount of ice time with 24:10 minutes on ice. This led all Jets last night and we will see if this large amount of ice time affects his play tonight.

Recently for the Blue Jackets…

The Blue Jackets are coming off of a 5-1 win against the Buffalo Sabres and are looking to split their home stand 2-2. This great offensive performance has set the table for the Blue Jackets to make team history if they win tonight by having 14 points in their first 10 games of the season.
Sergei Bobrovsky is projecting to get the nod in net and has a GAA of 2.00 and a save precentage of .934. Artemi Panarin leads the Blue Jackets with 1 goal and 9 assists.

Recently between the two teams…

Even though they lost 5-2 on October 17 against the Blue Jackets, the Jets have had the upper hand against the Blue Jackets since they relocated to Winnipeg. They do not face each other often, but the 10 times they have have seen the Jets go 6-4.
Bryan Little has feasted on the Blue Jackets, with 12 points in 12 games.
Unfortunately, the obvious goalie to get the nod in net for the Jets is Steve Mason. He last played against the Blue Jackets and saw him have 5 goals scored against. We will see if Hellebuyck gets the nod after last night’s performance.

Gameday Prediction

The Jets had 13 back-to-back games last season and went 6-5-2 on the second game of the back-to-backs. With a quiet night for the likes of Ehlers, Laine, Scheifele and Wheeler, I am expecting the rust of being off for a few days to be fully shaken off and the Jets will win 4-3.
