Certainly not the best game we’ve seen, but you can’t win them all. Chicago seemed to know exactly what the Jets wanted to do, and blocked up the lanes to prevent it. While the Jets picked it up in the latter part of the third period, the Blackhawks held on to win 2-1.
SCORING SUMMARY

GIF RECAP
That's an unfortunate goal allowed by Hellebuyck. 2-0 Blackhawks.
#NHLJets get on the board as Laine's shot burns a hole through Glass' blocker! 2-1 game. Do you #BelieveInTheJets?
HOW DID THEY CORSI?

Matchups are limited to 5-on-5 situations. Tile size is scaled by Time On Ice and colour is scaled by adjusted Expected Goals differential. Blue represents a home team advantage and red represents a road team advantage.

PLAYERS OF THE GAME
For Winnipeg: Patrik Laine – Laine scored the Jets’ only goal tonight, and was seemingly buzzing throughout the entire third. His goal tonight marks his 20th of the season.
For Chicago: David Kampf or Jeff Glass – David Kampf had quite the night. Not only was it his birthday, but he scored his first NHL goal, and added an assist. For Glass, he had some HUGE saves throughout the game, most notably his sprawling pad save on Patrik Laine late in the third, preserving their lead. Take your pick.
TALKING POINTS
- By the end of the third period, Jack Roslovic received a promotion in the lineup. After starting the game on the 4th-line with Marko Dano and Matt Hendricks, Coach Maurice shortened his bench in the third, and placed Roslovic with Andrew Copp and Joel Armia. Shawn Matthias was the one who moved down to line 4.
- The powerplay was stifled tonight, which ended a 6-game streak with a powerplay-goal for the Jets. The Hawks slowed the zone entries, and blocked a lot of shooting lanes.
- Blake Wheeler (and the Jets as a team) had a 7-game point streak snapped tonight. Wheeler had 11 points over that time
- If we weren’t convinced, Laine showed again that he has a shot that could be bronzed and put in a museum.
NEXT FLIGHT
The Jets are right back at it tomorrow, as they fly to Minnesota to take on the Wild. Puck drop is 6:00 CST.
