The Jets enter tonight’s game facing a struggling Canadiens team that only has 4 wins on the season. Last season, this rarely happened, but the Jets are looking to increase their win streak to 4 games tonight with a win over the Habs. As it currently stands, Winnipeg sits 2nd in the Central Division with 16 points.
The Jets are starting to erupt offensively, having scored 12 goals in the past 3 games. We’ll see if this trend continues against the Canadiens.
Tonight’s game is the last game for the Jets before heading out on a 3 game road trip.

Recently For The Jets…

The Jets most recently celebrated a 5-2 win over the Minnesota Wild. Mark Scheifele scored his first hat-trick of the year, hopefully many more are to come. Scheifele also has 8 points against the Canadiens.
Adam Lowry looks to be on the mend. He skated alone after the morning skate and isn’t expected to draw back into the lineup tonight, but it will be soon.
Tucker Poolman was sent down to the Moose earlier this week. This is a good thing for the rookie defender; he needs to be playing and not sitting in the press box.
Connor Hellebuck is playing extremely well and continues to solidify his status as a number one goaltender. He currently sits at a .938 save percentage and has a record of 7-0-1.

Recently For The Canadiens…

The Canadiens are team in the midst of trouble. They look like a rudderless ship and their record is starting to show it. They lost their last game 6-3 against the Wild. To make matters worse, Carey Price is sidelined with an injury.
Former Winnipeg Jet Al Montoya is expected to start tonight in goal for the Habs and Charles Lindgren has been called up to serve as back up.
Brendan Gallagher is leading the Canadiens in scoring with 10 points, while there is a three-way tie for 2nd in scoring between Shea Weber, Philip Danault and Jonathon Drouin. They all have 9 points.

Recently Between the Two Teams…

Last season saw the Jets and Canadiens split their two meetings 1-1. The Jets have won 4 of the last 7 meetings against the Habs.

Gameday Prediction

Tonight’s game should be a fairly straightforward win for the Jets. The team is starting to do well offensively and the special teams are starting to turn around. On top of this, they are facing a struggling team that is built around having an elite goaltender and Price is out with injury. 4-2 win for the Jets is my prediction.
