Looking to prepare for the upcoming 2021-22 season, which is scheduled to open on Oct. 12, the Winnipeg Jets made a trio of moves Sunday in an attempt to reduce their roster size down to 23 skaters.
First, the team announced that prospect @David Gustafsson, who was absent from Sunday&#8217;s practice, understandably, was assigned to the American Hockey League. As a result, the 6&#8217;2&#8243; forward will open the regular season with the Manitoba Moose.
Secondly, the Jets also waived @Dominic Toninato and @Nelson Nogier, making each of them available to the rest of the league. If neither player is claimed after 24 hours passes, it&#8217;s expected they&#8217;ll each be reassigned to the AHL as well.
Following these roster moves, only 23 skaters remain in Winnipeg&#8217;s camp, which includes:
