Jets Nation Recap: Jets Make History With 8-2 Win Over Dallas

Nov 8, 2016, 23:25 ESTUpdated: Invalid DateTime
What a night. There is so much going on in the world today, but lets talk about hockey and the Jets.
The Jets have given Winnipeg fans hope. Not only has the powerplay clicked, the young guns provided the offence for the Jets. The Jets also have a record setting player on their roster. Yes, Patrik Laine has set a NHL first by having multiple hat tricks (2) in his first 14 games. What a player.
Things got a little testy at the end, but the Jets stood there ground and dominated the Stars with the 8-2 win.
Anyone excited for when both Bryan Little and Jacob Trouba are added to this lineup?
GAME NOTES
- Patrik Laine. Need I say anymore? Hat trick, chemistry with his line mates and powerplay specialist. What a player.
- Nic Petan is awesome. Did you see Petan’s feed to Scheifele for Scheifele’s powerplay goal? Did you the cross ice passing Petan and Laine were performing? Yeah, there’s lots to be excited about.
- Youth movement. I don’t know if you noticed but the Jets are missing 3, 4 if you count Stuart, of their veteran players (Little, Stafford, Stuart, Matthias). Yet, this group just took on the Dallas Stars and manhandled them. Granted, the Stars are dealing with injuries, but so are the Jets. The question marks surrounding some of the youth are slowly being answered.
- Connor Hellebuyck quietly went about his business tonight. He had a lot of goal support, but when he was called upon, Hellebuyck was good. He posted a .933 save percentage and a 2.00 goals against average.
- One thing I will note, is the defensive coverage is still a little bit suspect. There was one moment in the first period where there 2-3 Stars players open directly in front of Hellebuyck. Luckily, Hellebuyck made the save, but that could’ve made the game go in a vastly different direction.
