As we reach a week of World Junior action, we also begin our medal round. All Jets prospects and their teams were in action today.
Still aren’t sure who they are?
Read our Jets At The Juniors Preview!
Four Quarterfinals and a Relegation match took place today, and they were all packed with action.
Game Scores
Quarterfinals
Czech Republic def. Finland 4-3 (SO)
Canada def. Switzerland 8-2
Sweden def. Slovakia 3-2
USA def. Russia 4-2
Relegation
Denmark def. Belarus 5-4 (Denmark leads best-of-three Relegation Series 1-0)
Kristian Vesalainen
After showcasing his best offensive showing of the tournament on New Years Eve, Kristian Vesalainen followed that up with a 3-point afternoon against the Czech Republic. Unfortunately, his efforts were in a losing cause, as Finland was eliminated by the Czech Republic. Vesalainen finished his tournament with 6-points (2G, 4A).
Dylan Samberg
Samberg and Team USA defeated Russia to advance to the Semifinals against Sweden. In 20:44 of ice-time, Samberg recorded 2 assists and one shot on goal. Samberg heads into the Semifinal carrying a 1G, 2A stat-line. He is now the only Jets prospect remaining in the tournament
Mikhail Berdin
Berdin was still on press-box duty as the Americans defeated them 5-4. Russia’s tournament is over, and unfortunately didn’t see any game action throughout the entire tournament.
Semifinal Matchups
(1A) Canada v. Czech Republic (2B)
(1B) Sweden v. United States (2A)
