Matty P is coming back!

With the imminent return of Mathieu Perreault to the lineup – he’s been seen wearing a full contact practice jersey the last few times out for the Winnipeg Jets – it’s possible that it gives Paul Maurice the ability to run three lines that can all be equally balanced and generate offense.

But will he? There is a couple of ways he can go with the forward lines once #85 is ready to get back in action.

He could simply insert Perreault into the 3rd line with Lowry and Copp. This could bump Tanev down a notch and possibly squeeze either Matt Hendricks or Shawn Matthias out of the lineup.

He could put Perreault back into the top line and move Connor down to the third line, but one would like to think Connor has proven his worth on that top line with eight points in nine games played – most of them scored with Wheeler and Scheifele as his linemates.

A third option would be to have Perreault slot into the second line center spot between Laine and Ehlers and bump Little down center a third line of Lowry (who would move to the wing) and Copp.

Maybe Maurice really gets the blender out and shuffles all the lines. Would he split up Wheeler and Scheifele? Would he split up Laine and Ehlers?

We’ve argued for a while that the Jets have enough talent that you could put out three, equally balanced scoring lines and make sure you distribute the ice time somewhat evenly
