Rutger McGroaty named Team USA’s Captain for 2024 World Jouniors

Be sure to check Betway to check out the latest Jets game day odds and bet on the NHL! As all of Canada waits for our favorite hockey tournament to start on December 26th we have some great news for the Winnipeg Jets 2022 first round draft pick Rutger McGroarty has been named captain for Team USA.
The Nebraska Native was named captain for the Americans Wednesday morning with Cutter Gauthier, Gavin Brindley, Ryan Chesley  and Lane Hutson being named alternate captains.
“I’m excited about our leadership group and they have the full support of our overall team, which is important,” said head coach David Carle. “While our captains will play a significant role, for us to be successful, everyone will need to lead and contribute, and we have a group that is focused on just that.”

McGroarty and Team USA are looking for back to back medals at the World Juniors as they would pick up a Bronze in the tournament last year. The University of Michigan forward played seven games had a goal and seven points in the 2023 WJC.
Currently McGroaty has 13 games played with Michigan has six goals and 18 points he is the third captain from the University of Michigan in four years and is the first captain who is a forward in five years as Joey Anderson was the last forward captain for Team USA in 2018.
