After returning home from a successful road trip to Detroit, the Winnipeg Jets received some very encouraging news during their first practice back at Canada Life Centre as five skaters have exited the National Hockey League’s COVID-19 protocol.
Prior to the club’s Saturday morning practice, there were a handful of familiar faces that couldn’t wait to jump back on the ice after being forced to isolate for the past week – including @Nikolaj Ehlers, @Logan Stanley, @Ville Heinola, @Kristian Reichel and @Nathan Beaulieu.
With all five players clearing COVID protocols, they’ll each be able to resume practicing with the team ahead of Tuesday’s contest against the Washington Capitals. Although, it remains to be seen how many of these skaters will be in the line-up during that matchup.
For now, the Jets still feature three players on the league’s COVID list, including @Paul Stastny, @Brenden Dillon and @Eric Comrie. In addition, assistant coach Wade Flaherty also remains in quarantine.
On a related note, forwards @CJ Suess (hand) and @Evgeny Svechnikov (undisclosed) were absent from Saturday’s practice.
Winnipeg is scheduled to begin its four-game road trip on Jan. 18, beginning with a clash in Washington at 6:00 pm CT.
