JNGD.S8.G65 Flight Plan: Jets Four Game Road Trip Begins In Columbus
Tonight is the beginning of a four game road trip for the Winnipeg Jets and they should be feeling pretty good about themselves after a rather impressive win against the Nashville Predators on Friday night. The last thing the Jets can afford to do however is let up against a Columbus Blue Jackets team that should be playing some desperate hockey after their GM went all-in at the deadline and after a particularly bad loss yesterday to the Edmonton Oilers.

Jets Player To Watch
#22 Par Lindholm – Center
Lindholm will get the nod to go into the lineup as Adam Lowry will miss the next two games due to suspension (so don’t really pay too much attention to the lines below, it’s likely that Lindholm goes in on the fourth line while Andrew Copp or even Mathieu Perreault draw in at center on the 3rd line.
Lindholm has been described as a capable two way forward who excelled last season in the Swedish Hockey League and was a player the Jets had their eye on this past summer. His time and play with the Leafs could be described as “MEH” at best as he wasn’t overly good, but not egregiously bad either.

Last Jets Game
They fell behind by two after two bad mistakes gifted goals to Nashville, but the Jets continued to play a strong steady game and thanks to the top line as well as three points from the new guy Kevin Hayes, the Jets were able to reclaim top spot in the Central with a 5-3 win over the Predators.

Jets Notebook
- The Jets will be without Adam Lowry who was suspended for two games for his careless swing of a stick upside the head of Predators forward Filip Forsberg. Par Lindholm will make his Jets debut in place of Lowry, but will likely be on the fourth line as Andrew Copp is most likely the one to move up and take Lowry’s spot.
- The Jets still haven’t lost three regulation games in a row this season.
- Winnipeg’s last game against the Jackets was a 4-3 win on Janurary 31 back in Winnipeg. Scheifele, Appleton, Connor and Roslovic all had goals. Connor Hellebuyck made 28 saves for the win.
- Blake Wheeler (1G, 7A) and Kyle Connor (3G, 3A) are on five-game point streaks.
Blue Jackets Player To Watch
#18 Pierre-Luc Dubois – Left Wing
Part of it is because he was drafted behind two other big games in Auston Matthews and Patrik Laine, part of it is because he was drafted to a somewhat smaller market US team that doesn’t get as much national media attention, but Dubois has been a very steady player for the Blue Jackets in his second NHL season with the club. He debuted a year after Matthews and Laine did – the Jackets opting to not rush him in unlike say the Oilers doing with Jesse Puljujarvi – and he just recently hit the 20 goal mark for the second straight time and has already topped hit rookie season point production.

Last Blue Jackets Game
The Jackets have been playing some intense, almost playoff-like level hockey the last week or so and it kind of caught up to them on Saturday as they looked sluggish and didn’t get very good goaltending in a 4-0 loss to the Edmonton Oilers.

Blue Jackets Notebook
- Columbus is 18-8-1 after a loss, but have a 4-5-2 record this season in the second game of back-to-back sets.
- The Jackets trading for Matt Duchene and Ryan Dzingel gave the team a league leading six 20-goal scorers. The other four are Josh Anderson, Pierre-Luc Dubois, Artemi Panarin and Cam Atkinson.
- Josh Anderson may be one of the more underrated players in the league right now. After his first two full NHL seasons saw him just miss the 20 goal mark, he finally has hit it this season and is one point away from hitting 100 for his career.
- The Jackets PK has been really good all season, but they’ve found a new level of stinginess over the last two months. They’ve only allowed a power-play goal four times over the last 26 games since Dec. 31 as they’ve gone 55-of-60 (91.7%) since that date.
