TALKING POINTS

• So that’s what it looks like when you have two talented teams playing and wanting to stay sharp but not really wanting to open things up because wins are still good and there are playoffs to think about in a little over a week.
• If Thursday was a case of the Jets believing their own hype a little too much, then Saturday was them still trying to see if they could just show up for a game and good things start happening. That first period was way too cute and once the Leafs scored that first goal, it almost felt like the Jets decided keeping passes simple and start getting more pucks towards the net.
• More fourth line scoring! Here’s the thing, Jack Roslovic has more talent than Brandon Tanev, but Brandon Tanev is better suited to fourth line duty and better with Lowry and Copp than Roslovic would be. I don’t know if Rosolvic gets back into the lineup without an injury in the top nine, but he will be a top nine forward next season. His time will come.
• Paul Stastny’s work in front of the Leafs net where he screened Curtis McElhinney on two different Jets goals was something to behold.
• Mark Scheifele had a rough game and I am not convinced he’s 100% yet. Might be worth giving him a game off over the next week. Copy and paste that for a handful of Jets. Little could use a night off. Perreault could just to reset himself.
• Connor Hellebuyck with 28 saves on 29 shots. None of them were particularly difficult, but he was in full “big and boring” effect tonight. Positioning was good and it looked like he saw the puck exceptionally well.
