JNGD.76 Flight Plan: Home Sweet Perfect Home?

Recently for the Jets…
You might have missed the news because not much has been said about it, but the Jets earned a spot in the 2018 Stanley Cup Playoffs on Sunday night with a shootout win over the Nashville Predators. Two big reasons as of late for the Jets success? Kyle Connor for one who was just named the NHL’s third star of the week for his four goal, six point effort last week. The other is the Jets work on keeping and holding onto the puck against some very strong defensive teams…
Recently for the Bruins…
This is the final stop for the B’s in a four game Central division swing that has seen them go 2-0-1 so far. Their last game was a 2-1 overtime win in Minnesota against the Wild. The successful trip for the Bruins has been made more impressive by the fact that they’ve had a handful of their regulars out Jake Debrusk, David Backes, Charlie McAvoy, Rick Nash and Zdeno Chara all out. On the bright side, they did just recently get Patrice Bergeron back after missing 13 games and Brad Marchand continues to do Brad Marchand things 33 goals on the season now as well as countless of games where he should have maybe been suspended for cheap hits and tactics. At the very least, the Jets won’t have to deal with Tuuka Rask as the Bruins are likely to start Anton Khudobin on Tuesday night.
Recently between both teams…
The Jets and Bruins played back on December 21 in a pretty entertaining game that saw both Connor Hellebuyck and Tuuka Rask put on a heck of a goaltending clinic. Rask won that duel eventually in a shootout with 37 saves, but Helle-boy was no slouch either making 32 stops himself. As mentioned, Rask won’t have a chance to repeat his antics tonight, so the Jets catch a bit of a break there. The loss continued a trend of the Jets just not having any real kind of luck or success against the B’s as Winnipeg has only beat the Bruins once since the Thrashers moved north six seasons ago.

Gameday Prediction
The Bruins have had a good road trip, but it’s been a bit of a grind for them with some overtime played and a furious third period comeback in Dallas. Ideally the Jets come out playing like they have the last few games and stay out of the penalty box. If they can do that, this they should be able to make it six. Jets win 4-1.
