TALKING POINTS

• This was complete domination from the Jets from beginning to end. The Anaheim Ducks really should be leaving Winnipeg with the RCMP on their tails because they John Gibson stole a point from this game tonight.
• Nothing to really dislike from the Jets in this game defensively, save for a couple of coverage errors that resulted in the two goals against. Otherwise I thought the Jets best defense tonight came from their offense and their great fore-checking. Multiple times in the game, the Ducks best option to relieve pressure in their own zone was dump the puck out to center ice, allow Winnipeg to collect it as they changed lines and then wait for Winnipeg to attack yet again.
• I mentioned in the Flight Plan that the Ducks have leaned on John Gibson a lot lately and tonight we saw why. He was spectacular and the only reason the Jets didn’t put up a seven or eight spot up on the scoreboard.
• For the first time since his return from injury, Mark Scheifele looked more like the Mark Scheifele we’ve seen all season. He scored one and rang another off the crossbar. The top line overall looked to have some of it’s mojo back tonight.
• Patrik Laine looked pretty darn healthy out there tonight with no real ill effects of any leg bruise.
• Sadly can’t say the same about Tobias Enstrom, although the Jets after the game say he was removed in the second period for precautionary reasons.
• When everything was clicking like it was tonight, how much fun is this team to watch? Kyle Connor can stick handle in a phone booth. Nik Ehlers flys around the ice and dares you to try and catch him. Laine is electric each time the puck gets near him. Josh Morrissey is such a rock on the blue line and then you remember he’s just 22 years old. Blake Wheeler has been around long enough to be considered a savy veteran but still young enough to skate circles around people and make passes you don’t think can be made.
