The Winnipeg Jets once again beat the Dallas Stars – this time by a 4-2 score and have swept the season series from Dallas with four straight regulation wins. Over the last two seasons the Jets have now gone 8-1-0 over friends from Texas and a lot of it has to do with the fact that Patrik Laine absolutely owns the Dallas Stars.

TALKING POINTS

  • Two more goals for Laine against the Stars tonight which of course extended his overall points streak to 15 games, but his 14 goals and 18 points in nine career games against Dallas is phenomenal.
  • The other big story from tonight – besides the actual win – is the Jacob Trouba injury which he suffered very early in the third period taking a hit from Jamie Benn. If one had to guess, the way Trouba struggled to get back on his skates, one has to wonder if it is a concussion. Post game, Paul Maurice mentioned the two players hit head to head, so…. Ugh.
  • The returns of Adam Lowry, Mark Scheifele and Tobias Enstrom went well. Lowry played a physical game and got in a pair of really nice hits which was a great sign. Scheifele wasn’t afraid to play physical as well. Enstrom as always is just his reliable, quiet self on the blue line.
  • The magic number is now 8 thanks to the Jets winning and the Stars losing.

PLAYERS OF THE GAME

For Winnipeg: Patrik Laine – The kid keeps scoring! It’s remarkable and honestly if you’re not finding his torrid pace at least a little bit funny and laugh as you see him rack up goals, you must hate fun.
For Dallas: Jamie Benn – No one can ever question Benn’s desire to win, and that goal he scored in the second was such a perfectly made shot.

NEXT FLIGHT

The home-stand for the Jets continues as the Los Angeles Kings pay a visit to Winnipeg on Tuesday with puck drop at 6 PM CST.
