The Winnipeg Jets played two games at home to start the season (both nationally televised games by the way) and lost both of them quite badly giving up 13 goals in the process. They then went on the road for two and won both with a much more respectable four goals given up between the two road games.
Go figure.
So now the Jets have returned home and hope to have give the Winnipeg faithful a better showing. Hoping to prevent that from happening are the Carolina Hurricanes who are unbeaten in their brief two game start to the season.

Recently for the Jets…

Two wins in a row, one more win will make it a streak!
It wasn’t the prettiest of games in Vancouver on Thursday night, but a win is a win and as the saying goes: “they don’t ask how, they just ask how many.”
The Jets last season didn’t manage to put together a win streak of three or more games until late January which obviously took them almost entirely out of the playoff picture before they managed to finally get things going late in the season. With teams in the Central division already a couple of wins ahead in the standings, a modest three game win streak this early on is actually fairly important.

Recently for the Hurricanes…

They’ve put in some extra work in both games they’ve played, with a 5-4 shootout win over the Minnesota Wild before dropping a 2-1 OT loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets on Tuesday. Tonight is the start of a four game road trip – an October tradition for the team as they are forced out by the State Fair at this time of year every year.
In both games, a Canes comeback was needed as they needed to rally from down two in the third period during the season opener versus the Wild, and then needed a Jeff Skinner goal with under two minutes left to earn overtime against Columbus.

Recently between the two teams…

They split the pair of games they had last season, the Jets winning the season opener with a three goal rally in the third period before winning it 5-4 in overtime. The Hurricanes then returned the favor in their own home with a 3-1 win a little over a month later.
